POEM: My Zookeeper

My zookeeper, my zookeeper.
You keep the animal within .
A tiger is raring, but you keep it within.
A wolf is howling, but you keep it within.
An alligator is chomping, but you keep it within.

My zookeeper, my zookeeper.
The animals are within.
A tiger is no longer roaring.
A wolf is no longer howling.
An alligator is no longer chomping.

J.L. (Poem by child in a Social Compass Group)

Thank you so much for all that you do for our children. What you do changes lives- whole families benefit from the lives you mold & shape. Thanks!!!!

B.L. (Parent of a child in a Social Compass Group)

I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate what you have done for me over these past years. Honestly, if it weren’t for you, I most likely wouldn’t be able to stand up and speak in front of the class like I do now. I went from a ten or eleven year old who could barely even say a sentence without stuttering to how I am now, which in my opinion, is a huge improvement. And that all thanks to you! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all that you have done for me! I can’t even express how thankful I am!

B.C. ( A 14 year old person who stutters)

When I think of people who have helped me, I am reminded of a phrase that my longtime speech therapist (at ABC) used frequently with me as she helped me understand the social world, “…same but different…

N.H. (Young adult with Autism)

Our son has come so far during the year since we first met with you. I want you to know how appreciative we are of you and all of the work you have done with/for him. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts….I know with certainty that I am so thankful that we found you and that you are giving our son his best chance at living a “normal” life with regard to speech/communication…

K.M.(Parent of a child who stutters)

It makes my heart smile that our daughter is finally able to enjoy reading…and we owe it all to you!

B.H. (Parent of a school-age child with reading difficulties)

Our son just graduated from a university with a four year degree…We hope that he will find a job where he can use the creativity and people skills that he has. We will always remember the amazing therapy you gave him all of those years.

E.R. (Parent of a former child with language processing difficulties)

Of all the places that we have been searching for answers, this is the most practical and useful information we have learned to help our son!

S.T. (Parent of a child with social-pragmatic challenges)

Thank you, Lisa Suire for identifying and breaking down our daughter’s language processing issues. Your work with her is so phenomenal and she is becoming so much more confident every day.

You are so skilled and a true pleasure every time we see you!

With heartfelt gratitude,

– L.D.

Since coming to Ms. Sheran at ABC and starting her amazing Social Thinking sessions and “playgroups,” both of my children are more confident at school and are communicating and playing much better with each other at home.

They are both learning how to be “Superflex!”

Both of my kids adore Ms. Sheran and love coming to ABC.

Thanks to you, Sheran, and your wonderful team at ABC.

I just wanted to share the good news, as I am not sure if my daughter told you. She made the honor roll the first nine weeks (all As and one B), YAY!!!! More importantly, she made an A in reading and spelling! We are so proud of her…and I think she is pretty proud of herself too! I don’t think we tell you enough how grateful we are for everything you do for our daughter. She truly would never have achieved this without your expertise, hard work, patience and guidance.

Also, this past weekend, she wanted to go to the bookstore and get a chapter book to read for fun! She has always loved the idea of reading and the bookstore, but would quickly become discouraged with reading books. We never gave up and always encourage trips to the bookstore. She has been reading her chapter book all week….just for fun, not because I nag her! It makes my heart smile that she is finally able to enjoy reading…..and we owe it all to you! I know she still has lots of work ahead of her, but we are so encouraged by the great progress.

Thanks again for everything.

– B.H.

It is truly wonderful to see a struggling student overcome obstacles and become self-confident. My son has made tremendous progress with his academics, organizational skills, and social interactions. I am grateful for the compassion, knowledge and the support that ABC has given us. ABC is giving him the tools he needs to succeed.

– A Grateful Parent, H.B.

My son responds well to the skilled interventions, positive reinforcement and encouragement he receives at ABC. We are especially grateful for the support in working with school staff to assist with our son.

– Vivian G.

The experience that my son has had attending therapy sessions at ABC has been phenomenal. There have been major improvements in his speech since day one. I would highly recommend ABC…
