Summer Programs

Summer Programs at Access to Better Communication in Baton RougeAccess to Better Communication offers a variety of unique summer therapy programs to meet the needs of many children.

The summer is a great time to address communication challenges while not under the pressures of an academic program.

If you’re interested in taking advantage of these limited availability classes, we offer summer groups in the following areas:

Reading and Writing Groups

Students will prepare for next school year by enhancing reading, comprehension, and written expression. Through children’s literature and group discussions, students will work to enrich oral reading fluency and understanding of stories. They will also work to become more interesting and creative writers by learning to organize ideas, to express themselves through effective words and sentence structure, and to edit their creations.

Social Skills Groups

Your child will participate in a unique program that teaches social thinking and related social skills in small groups to increase their social confidence and competence. The students will learn how their own social minds work and why they react and respond to people and   way they do, how to navigate their behaviors for more rewarding social outcomes, how to consider how others perceive them, and how   to the people and situations around them. The goal is improved social relationships in a variety of situations including home, school, and social outings.

Help your child develop important study and test testing skills to succeed in school. The group is focused on techniques designed to help your child start the next school year with improved skillson organization, time management, how to study, test taking vocabulary, note taking, and memory techniques designed to help your child start the next school year on a wonderful note.
